How many bytes are in a kilobyte?
This tool uses binary units, so 1 KB = 1024 bytes, 1 MB = 1024 KB, 1 GB = 1024 MB and 1 TB = 1024 GB. Enter 1 and select KB to see it in bytes and bits.
Does this use 1000 or 1024 for KB, MB and GB?
It uses 1024 (binary / powers of two). That matches how most operating systems report storage. Decimal (1000-based) drives label capacities differently, so a “1 TB” disk shows as roughly 931 GB in binary units.
How many bits are in a byte?
One byte is 8 bits. Enter a value in bytes and the bit row shows exactly eight times that number.
Why do I see “—” instead of results?
